Types Of Pizzas From Around The World

Pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world as you can easily get it from pizza delivery from foodpanda. Individuals may debate where the delicacy originated from, but there is no denying that it is loved by almost everybody who tastes it. It is believed to have originated in Italy, and it is quite popular there. The word pizza comes from the word pita which means pie hence the common reference pizza pie. This article is not exhaustive because there are many different types of pizzas, but it shows some of the most common permutations in the different types of the world today.

Marinara

This is flat bread with oil, oregano, tomato, and garlic. Back in the ancient times in Italy, it used to be stored in voyages so that the sailors who were referred to as ‘marinai’ could make pizza away from home. That is how the popular cuisine became popular.

Lahma Bi Ajeen

The term translates into meat with dough. It is popular in Lebanon, and other countries in the Middle East and they all have different names for it. It is made with minced onions, ground lamb, yogurt, and cumin. Those who have tried this type of pizza can affirm that it is indeed one of the best.

Neapolitan

This type hails from Naples, and it formed the basis for the modern-day American pizza. Initially, the pie was served sans cheese, but things changed when the Royal Palace commissioned the pizza makers to create the pizza to honor Queen Margherita who was visiting. That is how the plain pizza morphed into the new Margherita.

Stromboli

There are many theories regarding the origin of Stromboli. Italian Restaurant claims that it originated in 1950 in a town that is just outside of Philadelphia. Others claim that a Stromboli sandwich with chili was invented by an individual known as Mike Aquino in Washington and that is what inspired the invention of the pizza. Whatever the case is, it is one of the most popular types around the world.

Margherita

This is not an ancient type as it is just over a century old. It was named after the Queen of Italy Queen Margherita who was the first Queen of Italy and wife to King Umberto. It is composed of tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil. This type of pizza is important to the Italians because the ingredients are made of the colors of the Italian flag. Those are red, white and green.
